So I’ve taken it as a wonderful omen that at my first truly international wedding the Scottish sun shone from dawn ‘til dusk – (which was only after 11.00pm!) Karen and Andy were married on Karen’s home island of Westray in the Orkney Islands which was just so exciting and interesting for me as a travel photographer. What was so amazing was that Karen and Andy’s house was just a lazy stone’s throw away from the town “kirk”… And then the beautiful secluded spot where we did the family and part of the bridal shoots was the exact stomping ground where Karen used to play as a youngster in front of her late dad’s workplace. I think he would have been pleased about that! During a quick break in the highly entertaining evening’s line up, we dashed down to the local beach and had the most amazing sunset shoot. I think Karen and Andy needed the break after a totally wild game of “duster hockey” where even little girls in pink dresses were getting involved – (look it up, its pretty riotous!) Karen and Andy, thank you for trusting this land-locked African with such an important day, and with the navigation of different light, different terrain, different accents! I hope I captured some of your magic!
